Transplant Perioperative Device (TPOD) and Transplant APP (TAPP) are the ultimate solution to Transplant programs' safety, audit and streamlining needs.

Benefits Overview

Certifies that patients receive the correct organ every time

TPOD AND TAPP are able to read all barcodes including Transnet and hospital patient wristbands. All scanned data is then automatically uploaded into patient case file in the eRemedy cloud.  Our proprietary Automated Data Matching software then screens each case data to ensure ABO compatibility between donor and recipient data.

Improves safety and confidence

The Organ Transplant Procurement Network (OPTN) 2013 report highlights the top errors in the Transplant process as being errors associated with (1) Manual data entry, (2) Communication errors, and (3) Location. Eremedy’s TPOD and TAPP have been designed to address all areas of concern. Our eRemedy Browser allows direct data download from DONOR NET and automated upload into the cloud surgical case file.

Our system also improves compliance within the administrative transplant process management such as transplant tracking and production of Consent and ABO verification forms.

Saves surgeon time

Transplant cases frequently require the operating room staff to be ready to receive the organ and start the transplant emergently. Additionally, in Cardiac Transplant cases for example, the recipient has to be put under anesthesia and chest opened in preparation for transplantation upon arrival. TAPP AND TPOD are cognizant of this issue and provide GPS tracking of the organ. Additionally, the TPOD can auto notify the OR team and Surgeon of distance and time to arrival of the organ to allow better use of teams time. Additionally, for surgeons and participating Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs), our system gives the added advantage of allowing change of intended recipient data remotely and even mid air. Such occasions, although not common, can results in loss of the organ. Examples of such occurrences include death of intended recipient or determination of unsuitability of the organ, after initial acceptance by surgeon. TAPP and TPOD can essentially facilitate rerouting of the organ delivery site after initiation of organ and recipient assignment.

TPOD and TAPP can also save time for the surgeons in dealing with administrative reporting and charting. UNOS and Joint Commission and other Accrediting bodies require documentation of consents and ABO verification. TPOD/TAPP live reporting program automatically records each verification done by staff and surgeon with time stamp and required signature and even adds a voice file if surgeon is scrubbed in. All data can be archived at the center and accessible remotely and retroactively. The surgeon does not have to spend added time in charting or signing, which gives physicians more time to focus on patient care.

Conserves organs and collects critical data

Cold Time tracking provides real time organ temperature exposure. Our TPOD and very soon TAPP will provide not only tracking of the organ and auto notification but also gives you live data on temperature ranges the organ is exposed to.  The organ often times is placed in ice with unknown temperature and depending on distance can arrive either too warm or even frozen.  In fact, there have been occasions where organs have been nearly rejected as surgeon did not know whether the organ was preserved well enough for transplantation. TPOD/TAPP can easily produce the minute by minute temperature exposure of the organ to prevent this mishap.

At this juncture, affect of specific temperature on organ preservation and rejection has not been studied.  With the advent of TPOD/TAPP Cold time tracking, such research can be done on archived transplant data, thus giving us further insight into ideal organ temperatures for transplantation..
